Certain wood burning appliances qualify for a 30% Federal Tax Credit for 2010. The Energy Incentives for Individuals in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act provides up to a $1500 tax credit to invest in energy-efficient products for primary residences. The credit applies to improvements such as adding insulation, energy efficient exterior windows and energy-efficient heating systems.
